    • If the pond pump is not in use for the the entire year, remove it from the water, clean and dry it, and store in a warm dry location. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the pump should be submerged in a bucket of water. Not only is this the incorrect, but it can damage the pump once it is turned on again.

    • It is strongly recommended to check the oil level prior to operation each season you use it. Tsurumi pond pumps have a "phillips" head screw, half way between the stainless steel housing that stores the oil. Place the pump on it's side with the screw facing upwards. Check the oil level and, if needed, apply Di-Electric oil into the oil chamber while spinning the impeller with your hand. Spinning the impeller will release any air in the oil chamber and allow the oil to fill the chamber. All Tsurumi pond pumps are air filled motors. There is no oil or any other liquid that should be in the motor housing. Should you see any liquid in the pump motor  housing, it is likely the mechanical seals have failed and need to be replaced before operating the it again.

    • Tsurumi pond pumps come with a 20' or 32' power cable. Inspect the power cables prior to operation each season to make sure there are no breaks in the water proof coating of the cable. Should a cable be exposed to water, it would cause the motor to "burn out" and render the pond pump inoperable and unrepairable.
